ddn.columnar

Typed, nullable, chunked column storage and value computation for D.

This package is the columnar foundation of the DDN Analytics family. It owns the canonical Column type - one logical dtype over immutable, 64-byte-aligned, validity-tracked chunks - together with the builders, typed views, bitmaps and buffers beneath it, the value kernels (arithmetic, comparison, Boolean and bitwise logic, casts, reductions, scans, rank, single-column sort permutations, membership and column equality/hash), the string, temporal and rich-type transforms (list, struct, categorical, decimal), the structural Schema, Field and ColumnBatch carriers, and the one deterministic parallel executor the kernels share.

One canonical implementation serves the whole family: the dataframe package aliases its Series to Column instead of keeping a second storage engine. A column carries an optional name as metadata; it is never a row index. Tables, queries, expressions and file formats live in their own packages and never enter this one.

The delivered package surface covers storage and computation on standalone columns without requiring dataframes, Arrow, IO, Mir or compression providers. Compatibility aliases preserve the historical ddn.df column spellings without duplicating implementations.
